Glenda Glenda Glenda!!!
BOS was absolutely fantastic!!!
My husband Harry and I have been coming for several years. BOS is his favorite thing to do. All weekend he was like a little kid at Christmas. I could hardly get him to stop for meals. I told him that I should just throw him a hot dog.
We come as listeners. Harry picks but just by himself. He sings really well too. We went to the Peasalls' concert. It was wonderful. Those girls have the best harmony. The house was packed and everyone enjoyed it a lot.
We love your band and your’re among Harry’s favorites. Your son is so talented. Lordy that man can sing! When you sing, your face just shines and shows how much you love the music. I missed the Solstice Sisters. I went for a rest. Sorry I missed them. I heard the two of them at Sunday singing under the tent and they were good. Speaking of Sun. singing under the tent. Girl!!!! It was so goooood!! All those musicians playing, and everybody in the tent singing. It just d o n ‘ t get any better than that. I watched your face and could tell how much it meant to you. You about brought tears to my eyes. I’m the one who came up to the front of the stage afterward to give you a thank you hug. I appreciate so much all that you, your friends, and community do to share your gift and love of music with all the rest of us. I sat there listening and watching and couldn’t help but think what a great tribute to your late husband Nick.
Just when I thought it couldn’t get any better……..we went to the Carolina Chocolate Drops concert. Harry and I saw them in Michigan last year. I thought they were really good then, but I couldn’t believe the show they did for us yesterday. I thought the roof would surely come right off! They were amazing! The energy in the tent was so high. I don’t know when I’ve ever enjoyed anything so much and seen such talented young people.
There seemed to be more jams on the square this year. Harry loved it. He didn’t know who to listen to first. The crafts were all good. There was plenty of good food around. And……..the weather was great!
Anyway, I just had to thank you for all that you do.

Hello Glenda,
I've wanted to write and tell you thank you for the very good musical
experience that Bear on the Square was, but have been frustrated not
having a street or email address till just now. Please excuse the delay.
The event was remarkable. I saw happy families visiting craft vendor
locations, strolling, pulling babies in wagons, having lunch at the food
wagons, excitedly heading towards the Concert tent and smiling happily
once in them. I thought they will remember these days when they have
grandchildren to tell about Bear on the Square. The amount of good music
education you provided was remarkable. I didn't expect to spend almost all
of Saturday and Sunday in the Education Tent. But that's exactly what I
did. Inbetween I carried my violin and was able to have many spontaneous
concerts with people and groups I passed by. Once, I heard the strains of
'Old Joe Clark' from a corner of the Courthouse and hurried to join them
in one of my favorites. The vendor selling Dulcimars and autoharps was
playing 'Southwind Waltz' as I passed. I stopped and joined him playing
for over half an hour. And at the SEBA booth something similar happened.
It was a gourmet buffet of music to participate in. For the 'listening
musicians' who do not play music themselves at Bear on the Square, the
line up of Concert shows was something to remember.
I've worked in/with organizations long enough to know something like Bear
on the Square which seems to happen joyfully, easily and
spontaneously...doesn't. There is always much planning, contacting,
following up, coordinating, stepping sideways to fix things that don't
happen as they should, and general hard work also. You have made a
difference in the world.Thank you for your vision that made this worderful
event happen and for your generous, competent energy that's formed it into
theexperience those children and I also, will long remember.
